The bulrushes were thick Their spongey ends dipping into the shallow waters of the river.
It was then that the river had not been found, so to speak.
No white men had introduced their faces to this body of water.
From its meeting place with the Delaware, everything was hidden, its small, sly opening concealed by  the grassy leaves of the bulrushes.
