Seeking the following people for the new project, CONSTANTS


COSTUME DESIGN INTERN
Seeking a Costume Design Intern to work on the upcoming, historical performance work CONSTANTS.  The costumes selected for the performance must correlate with the period in history that the performers are portraying.  

The Costume Design Intern would be responsible for the following:
  • Researching different styles of historical dress
  • Drawing sketches or photographing costumes ideas to present to the director
  • Accompanying the director on visits to costume collections in Philly and possibly NYC
  • Finding costumes pieces and doing the necessary alterations (sewing, cutting, etc) to make them look realistic and fit the performer’s body
  • Coming to some rehearsals to fit the costumes to the performers and ensure that they are working in the context of the show
Looking for someone who is:
  • Interested in costume design and knows how to sew and do alterations
  • An independent worker, who can also work collaboratively
  • Responsible, on-time, and able to meet deadlines
  • Creative and thinks outside of the box 
  • Resourceful and willing to use ‘found’ material for costumes
  • Willing to put in 10/hours a week from 8/2/10 – 9/18/10 working on CONSTANTS
  • Would like experience working in a theatrical production doing design work!
In return for their participation in the project, the Costume Design Intern will receive the following:
  • Letter of recommendation upon the completion of the project
  • One month of free Sat am Zumba classes in August (and possibly September too!) click here for more info

MARKETING INTERN
Seeking a Marketing Intern to work on promoting the upcoming site-specific dance theater work titled, CONSTANTS.

The Marketing Intern would work on the following assignments and tasks:
  • Learning about marketing materials for the show, such as postcards and flyers
  • Assisting the director in distributing press releases and following up with members of the press
  • Keeping the company’s status updated on social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc)
  • Listing CONSTANTS on online publications and arts and entertainment websites
  • Reaching out to different organizations whose members may be interested in CONSTANTS
 Looking for someone who is:
  • Interested in marketing and press relations as it pertains to the dance and theater community in Philadelphia
  • An independent worker, who can also work collaboratively
  • Responsible, on-time, and able to meet deadlines
  • Creative and thinks outside of the box
  • Resourceful and willing to think of new ways to approach marketing
  • Willing to put in 10/hours a week from 7/26/10– 9/18/10 working on CONSTANTS
  • Would like experience working on a theatrical production!
In return for their participation in the project, the Marketing Intern will receive the following:
  • Letter of recommendation upon the completion of the project
  • One month of free Sat am Zumba classes in August (and possibly September too!)
  • The possibility of a continued working relationship in the Fall

STAGE MANAGER
Seeking a Stage Manager to work on the upcoming, site-specific dance theater work titled, CONSTANTS.

CONSTANTS has many technical elements within it and uses bikes and canoes during the show. The performance travels and locations change while it is happening. It travels along Fairmount Park's West River Drive. For exact location, click here.

The Stage Manager would be responsible for the following:

-Ensuring all costumes and props are safe and in positions
(canoes stationed, bikes ready to ride with lights, other props set in correct sites)
-Coordinating volunteers who are assisting with the production
-At times driving props to and from locations within the park
-Working with audience members during the performance (before the show starts)
-Resetting props between shows (there are 2 shows each night)

Looking for the following:

-A person available during the following times:
Rehearsals: Mon 8/2, Fri 8/13, Fri 8/20, Fri 8/27, Sun 8/29, Mon 8/30, Wed 9/1, Tues 9/7, Wed 9/8 from 5:30-9:30pm
Tech and Dress Rehearsals: Mon 9/13, Tues 9/14, Wed 9/15 from 5:30-11pm
Shows: Th 9/16, Fri 9/17, Sat 9/18 from 5:30-11:30pm

(ability to commit to ALL dates above is a MUST)

-Responsible adult, over 21 years of age (no age discrimination -- only because we have to add you to our Philly Car Share account, in case you need to drive props)
-Someone with an open mind and the willingness to learn about site specific performance. No experience is necessary, but it is helpful if you have an understanding of how live theater works.
-Relaxed spirit and good sense of humor! Does not mind working hard but having fun!

Compensation: A small cash honorarium offered at the end of the performances, one month of free Zumba classes in August on Saturday am's, letter of recommendation for future work, and the ability to network and learn from amazing performers! Plus, nightly canoe rides on the Schuylkill River!
